Lord,
Thank You once again for a beautiful, cool morning, which will be a fantastic day.
Lord, I pray that You please forgive me for my sins and help me.
I have tried and tried, but nothing is working.
Only You can do it.
I will pay a price if I sin against You and my family.
I don’t want to do that anymore.
Today is the day of a new schedule that I will try.
My goal is to stay busy and do something constructive between 8:00 and 5:00 instead of “mumbling” around, as my wife will say.
I want to concentrate on whatever I am doing at the time.
For example, it is time for the journal, NAIWE, and LinkedIn; I will then concentrate on that for 15 minutes.
I pray for your blessings, God, on this new schedule.
I pray for your blessings for my family, and please take care of them.
Today’s devotion is on submission.
I pray that I can help others around me!

Dear Lord,
Today is Panamanian Independence Day!
I believe this is one of Maria’s favorite holidays besides Christmas.
I pray that everyone in Panama and all citizens who are not in Panama enjoy their day!
Lord, thank You for a great lunch with the Millennium team.
I am looking forward to our possible get-together in January.
Lord, I pray for my attitude.
I pray that it doesn’t ruin myself or anybody close.
I want to make everyone around me happy.
I know that I am not the central focus.
I like having what Maria has; she always looks out for others.
Now, it is time to look out for her!
I pray this in Jesus’ name!

Dear Lor,
Another job prospect, another rejection!
Oh well, that is life, mainly when you lead mine.
I have always believed that You will lead me to the right opportunity for me and my wife.
So I am not worried about the no or no thanks. We found someone else.
Today is Halloween when children and some adults dress up like someone else.
Yes, I am going to dress up like a scarecrow.
Anyways, as soon as Halloween is done, it is November.
It’s one of my favorite months of the year.
Lord, I pray that You will keep the children safe tonight as they seek treats.
I pray that You will be with my granddaughters as they visit the neighborhood to get candy.
Thank You, God, for everything!

Our Father,
I thank You for this awesome day.
Please forgive me for my reaction this morning.
If my wife wants to wake up early, she can.
Lord, I pray I can stay away from computers, cell phones, and iPads today!
These are the things that are ruining my eyes and my brain.
Plus, pretending to be someone that I am not is not helping either.
Lord, I want to go through a normal, peaceful life with no or little stress.
Whatever happens in this judgment happens!
It will seem like many people have more success than I do in many things, and they have done nothing to get it.
Well, that is what it seems.
Lord, I know that I will have success when I get to Heaven.
Also, I need to put this out of my mind.
Many people are in a worse situation than I am right now.
So, I need to stop complaining.
I need to keep in mind that I want to help people.
That is my goal.
And I need to stop getting emotional about things.
And try to blaze a path towards it.
It refers to trying to be something that I am not.
You will set my path for the rest of my life.

Dear Lord,
Another beautiful and crisp morning that You have given us as a blessing for our lives.
I want to Thank You for this.
Also, for letting me open up my eyes for another day.
I pray that You will change my attitude towards people, especially my wife.
I don’t like how I responded to her a few times yesterday.
I need to learn how to control myself.
Especially when I am responding.
I pray for Your blessings during my appointment this afternoon.
I hope the doctors take one look at my hand and say everything is good!
Thank You, God, for everything, and I pray that You please forgive me for the sins I have committed against You and the ones I love.

Dear Lord,
I want to say thank You for giving My wife a great birthday and for 62 years of her life.
She is an example of a true child of God!
As I always mention, we have witnessed it with our own eyes during the anniversary event in Virginia Beach.
Thank You, God, for letting her be my wife.
I hope and will continue learning from her.
I also want to thank You and my wife for the finance lesson.
Doing the basics is the theme.
Leaving the money in the bank is a simple thing.
Once again, thank You!
It is time for a nap!

Our Father,
Thank You for another awesome day on which I am able to see outside and admire the wonderful things that You created.
I pray that there are many days like this to come, not only for me but for everyone!
Lord, I pray that You please forgive me for all I have done against You!
As I have prayed and written many times in this journal, I do not deserve any of the blessings that You have given me.
I pray that You will please clear my mind so I can become more creative in my writing.
I also want to dedicate my time to writing instead of the many other things I think about.
Please give me the patience to write, because I know I will sometimes hurry to finish.
I also pray for my family.
I pray for my daughter and her family’s house to be completed on time or earlier.
I pray for my mom to get better, and I pray for my wife to find something that will fulfill her life.
Thank You, Go, for everything!

Hanging Out with Gatsby and the Lost Generation
Since she was in high school, Alex has always wanted to go back in time. Specifically, she wants to return to the 1920s, when life was free and passionate. Where did she get this fascination? It all started when she was a young teenager reading the “Great Gatsby” by F. Scott Fitzgerald. She always imagined what it would be like to live out on Long Island, going around and visiting different places such as East Egg and the Hamptons and mingling with people such as Daisy, Tom, Gatsby, and even Nick. Also, it would be fun to go to the big bashes that Gatsby hosted at his mansion every weekend, according to that famous novel she read and still loves to read.
Her passion for the 20s was not limited just to Long Island. Her love for Paris during that same time grew after seeing the movie “Midnight in Paris” starring Owen Wilson and Rachel McAdams. What would it be like to walk around in the artistic district in that beautiful city, looking at all of the arts, bookstores, and fashion boutiques, only to be picked by one of those lovely old fashion cars at the stroke of midnight and be in the presence with the like of famous artists and writers such as Ernest Hemmingway, Pablo Picasso, T.S. Elliot, Gertrude Stein, and of course, Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald. This was her big dream. She always said to herself, this is where I belong. I can draw my portraits and create my stories, which I have loved to do since childhood.
The passion to travel back to the 1920s not only exists in Alex but also her daughters. Alex loves to tell her stories about going back to the Golden Age of Gatsby and the Lost Generation to her daughters, Piper and Lilly, before bedtime many nights. Her daughters, eyes would light up as they imagined, like her mother, what life would be like growing up in that era where artists, writers, fashion, and social gatherings dominated the world. Living in a time where people from all walks of life can enjoy the beautiful city and work on their livelihood and their passion, no matter if they are artists, writers, sculptors, actors, musicians, or just want to live in peace where nothing matters, and the stress was nonexistent.
On one particular night, after Alex told them a story about a dream she had traveling back to Paris and finding inspiration to work on her drawings, Piper asked, “Mommy, what would be the first thing you would do when we go back there?” After a short pause and thought, Alex said, “We will walk to the artistic district, but first, we will visit the beautiful parks full of flowers, birds, and butterflies and, of course, see the Eiffel Tower.” After we arrive, I would find out where the artists, musicians, and writers hang out during the day, maybe a café, a small restaurant, or even outside at the park.” “I would get as close as possible and listen to their conversations.” “What are they talking about?” “Are they discussing the next idea for their book?” “Are they looking for an image for their painting?” Just imagine the ideas that were exchanged between all of them.” “That would be so fascinating.”
Piper then asked, “Would you say anything to them?” “Would you ask any questions?”
“That is a fascinating question, and I am not sure.” I know I will have several questions, but will I want to bother them or try to get in the middle of their conversation?” “I don’t want to be the one that hinders them from creating a masterpiece.” “The world may never forgive me!!” Alex laughed.
Lilly, with a big smile after hearing her mother’s answers to Piper’s questions, asked, “Is it possible that we can meet the author who loves to talk about Rhinoceroses?” “You know everything that he says is about rhinoceroses.” “I think that he is very funny!!”
“Oh, I know who you are talking about; that is Salvador Dali.” “Yes, he should be with there also.” “We will make sure that you can meet him.”
At that very moment, both Piper and Lilly yelled, “Let’s go; what are we waiting for?” Alex let out a little laugh and said, well, unfortunately, we do not have a DeLorean just like the movie “Back to the Future,” or a bicycle that is hooked up to a bunch of equipment just like that show “The Time Machine” that we can use to travel back to the 20s. However, we have our imagination that can take us anywhere we want to go and to any time period we desire to be. So girls, go ahead and close your eyes, and I will close mine. We will go to Paris in 1926 and wait for our nice car to come by to take us to Ms. Gertrude Stein’s house. I believe that when we arrive, we will be able to see Pablo and Hemmingway. Make sure to keep your heart and mind open and listen to the great conversation. Then we will try to find Salvador so Lilly can say hi and have him say Rhinoceroses.
Afterward, we will all go to Long Island and explore the beautiful houses and scenery. Hopefully, we will see all my friends from the book I love reading and having a picnic in the lovely warm sun.
When we return from our trip, I want you both to write down and draw everything you see, including all of the people you meet and all of the places in Paris and Long Island you visit. These experiences that you have will bring great inspiration to your friends at school, your family, and even to your dad. Remember, do not hold anything back. Imagine if famous artists and writers did not tell their stories or paint their pictures. Our world will not be the same. One day, someone will want to travel back in time to be close to you while you are creating your masterpiece. What an experience that will be!
